Happy Hump Day loves! If you saw my Insta stories then you know unfortunately this week there will be no new YouTube video 😦 therefore, I will be comin’ atcha with two new blog posts… More
Hey Y’all! Long no talk am I right?! Sorry ’bout that! Haha.
I started blogging December of last year but then I got bit hard by the YouTube bug and took a seven month break (could you even really call it a break if I hadn’t even been blogging that long…? lets just roll with it) to focus on creating videos instead of blog posts. And while I have LOVED making videos, I also have been missing blogging as well. So, I decided to pick it back up again and will be doing my best to juggle both!
I will do my very best to continue creating weekly content over on my YouTube channel as well as bring you regular content over here as well. I am so excited to share so many fun products with you all! Some things just translate better in text and photos so I have been saving a lot to talk over here…get ready!
In the meantime, if you haven’t been following over on YouTube then be sure to head over there and catch up! There is over 30 videos over there and over 350 minutes (wow!) of me just chatting about all things beauty and random life stuff. I promise its a good time so go over there and enjoy! Also, notice things looking a bit different around here? I revamped the blog and will continue making adjustments to get it perfect! Do you like the new look?
Now I am going to wrap this up and get to starting more content for y’all. Thanks again for following along with me and sticking through this break of blogging and embarking of new adventures. You are seriously the best!
Hey Y’all! I am popping on here to let you know that this morning I posted my first ever YouTube video!!
This totally wasn’t planned but Saturday night I couldn’t get any sleep because I just had a feeling I needed to start my journey on YouTube. I got up at 8:00 a.m. Sunday morning an filmed my first video! I would love and appreciate it so much if you would go check it out and subscribe to my channel!
I love blogging but I am so excited to be able to chat with you all more “face-to-face”. Thanks for taking the time to read this and hopefully you will join me in this new YouTube adventure!
For those of you who enjoy my typically very lengthy Instagram round ups I apologize in advance because this one will be a little shorter than usual. The last round up was massive though so hopefully it will all just even out! Haha. I have to be honest though, these photos show some of my favorite items from any Instagram round up, ever! I definitely found some gems and have been wearing them constantly. My top three favorite purchases are these, this, and this. You can bet that you’ll be seeing way too many pictures of me rocking them! =)

Ummm…where has this year gone already? I swear I was just writing my New Year’s resolutions post and now here we are in April! If you haven’t read my post from January click here to check it out so you can see how I set up my goals for this year. I am trying something new in hopes that it will help me take control over this year since last year it felt like I wasn’t the one holding the reigns. 2018 is already going by so quickly which is what brings me to writing this post today. We have officially hit quarter two which means it’s time to check in with my progress by reflecting on how I did hitting the first quarter’s goals and setting the second quarter goals.
Above is a quick reminder about my overall 2018 goals. Below are the goals I set for the first three months of the year.
So, how did my goals for this first quarter go? Let’s review it by category:
- Health – I didn’t hit my goal weight which I totally saw coming. If y’all remember I was sick for the majority of the past three months so I worked out when I could but I had major setbacks. I also definitely could have been more on top of my eating. However, I did reach my 5k time goal! I ran my 5k in March and made it in 47 minutes, my goal was under 50. Yay!
- Finances – I didn’t lower my credit card to the number I wanted but I am super, super close. Overall, even though I didn’t meet this goal I am still really happy with my progress and the fact I am getting more knowledgeable about my finances.
- Extras – As of today I am about 230 followers away from hitting my goal which I will take as a total win regardless of not meeting it. This whole blogging/instragraming thing is not about numbers or stats, I am just extremely thrilled that other amazing people are finding my account and enjoying my content. That is the only thing that matters and over the past three months I have connected with so many incredible people!
- Family & Friends – My sisters and I for years have sent weekly emails checking in with each other and our health goals for the week. It’s amazing to have their support each week and obviously I love hearing all about what they are up to. My middle sister has been on top of sending these out so really I have only been having to reply but I will continue to engage and remember to kick things off if needed.
- Relationship – I think I did pretty well with this one! Bear’s birthday was back in January and I really did try my best to make it super special for him since he was away from his family. I have a few ideas of things I can do better/differently for next year but overall I am proud of myself for pulling off what I did!
- Career – I coordinate two committees around this time of year and both consume a lot of my time. Compared to last year which was my first year in my position, I think I really improved! I am proud of my work with this and definitely stayed on top of them. I am practicing some of the Outlook tips that I received but there is one in particular (categorizing your sent mail) which is really intimidating me so I haven’t take the plunge yet.
- Self – Another win! I am seriously the worst at skin care but for the past three months I have made a concerted effort to take off my makeup every day and then use some type of product to help tone it. I either use this Pixi product or an apple cider vinegar mix that I made up. I am definitely noticing some changes to my skin for the better, so I am very happy with how I did meeting this goal.
- Religion – To be completely open and vulnerable, this is probably the category I have been struggling the most with. For some reason I am having a hard time finding the time to do these things, I realize I need to make much more of an effort. I have been putting it on the back burner but I know it needs to change.
Okay, now onto looking forward to the next three month’s goals. Here they are! These are the items I want to work on/achieve by June 30th. I am so, so motivated right now and I can’t wait to crush these!
I am especially very motivated right now to get back on my health game. I am sure all of us are aware of how close summer is, so now is the time to get it right! For the next three months this specific area will be receiving a lot of my time and attention. I am happy that I am able to realize that in this season of my life, this is what I need the most. I am checking in with myself and realizing where my priorities need to lay. I think this is where checking in quarterly with myself is really helpful, it’s making me re-shift my focus to what I truly need.
As you can see, I am doing a dry April! I did this last year and loved the way I felt afterwards. It’s not that I drink that often (a few drinks a week) but it’s a nice little challenge that helps to you re-prioritize and pushes you that much more to be healthier. If anyone wants to join me I would love it! We can be in it together =)
Okay, well this post is a lot longer than I had anticipated so I am going to cut it off now before I ramble any more. If you are following along and doing quarterly check in’s, how did your first quarter go? What are your second quarter goals? I’d love to hear from you!
Where do you buy your clothes? It may seem weird but it is such a common question that I get from my family and friends, and now from all my Instagram/blog lovelies! To be honest it’s not like any of my go to places are unique or anything but I do think I have a good strategy to know what places are good for what kind of things. See, ya girl here is on a budget. I am not about to drop money on the newest bag just to get a good Instagram picture, or buy that sweater just because everyone else is posting about it. Therefore, I need to know what places will get me the best bang for my buck and now is when I spill all my secrets!
Old Navy: There was a time in my life where 90% of my clothes were from Old Navy, it was a little crazy. However, there are some things that I will always go to them for. Firstly, I love their athletic wear and work pants. I pretty much only wear their yoga pants and have found them to be the best for the price point. And by work pants I mean pants that are considered business professional, specifically Pixie pants are my ride or dies! My tips are never buy anything full priced because they are always having sales, and always try things on before buying because in my experience their sizes are always changing so it’s never an across the board type thing.
American Eagle: The 2003 version of myself would be cracking up that I still shop here since in middle school it was my favorite but I still love it now! The tops and more trendy items aren’t usually my style so I really just come here for the jeans. They are my absolute favorite and have been for 15+ years. They always have sales so wait for those, and at the sales prices I think they are definitely worth the money. I wear them daily and they still last me years. Oh, I also really like their sandals! I haven’t bought them for a few years but I have my eye on a few pairs that I will probably be buying soon once they go on sale.
Nordstrom Rack: Y’all I now live less than a mile away from one of these stores and it is seriously hurting my bank account. haha. Pretty much once a week my boyfriend and I will stop by the store “just to look” but 9/10 times we leave with something. I purely come here for their tops and shoes. It takes time to go through all the racks but it’s well worth it. Plus I feel like they are constantly getting new inventory! I swear even if I went every day I would still find new things, its amazing yet very dangerous.
Target: This is where I get anything that is trendy. I am not the biggest trend person but if there is a style that I really like, I hit up Target before investing in it because then I won’t feel bad in two months if the trend “isn’t cool anymore” since I didn’t spend a lot of money on it. I also love their shoe section! Yes, sometimes they have the most uncomfortable shoes ever. And yes, they only last you one season…but their shoes are cute and affordable so I am game! Also I should quickly note that they are really stepping up their game with the new Universal Thread line of clothes and accessories. I have tried on a few items from it and they are seriously knocking it out of the park.
Okay so I think that about covers the main places I go to get specific items, the rest I just fill in with random other stores. I do believe in investing in certain pieces that will last you a while and for those items I tend to go to North Face, Lilly Pulitzer, J. Crew, Patagonia, Nordstrom, etc. I am just very selective on what I choose to spend my money on when I go to those places. Especially compared to the ones I listed above where I tend to kind of lose my mind and just hand over my wallet. Haha Hope you enjoyed this insight into my shopping strategy!
It a very, very rare day that I try out a new foundation and instantly know that it will be in my life for a long time. It’s almost like dating, it’s rare to fall head over heels. However, that’s exactly what happened when I tried this out! I am the pickiest person when it comes to foundation. As you may have heard me mention a few thousand times, I have had a deep and long love affair with Revlon Colorstay Foundation. We are ride or die together and have been for almost 10 years. So when I say that I found a foundation that actually lives up to my beloved Revlon…y’all better listen up! Haha.
Now, I am not saying that this completely replaces my Revlon…because it doesn’t. I still reach for that on days when I want my makeup to look its most perfect. However, on a daily basis I find myself using this more. I guess this has more to do with the price tag (I mean they are both drugstore so it’s not exactly breaking the bank, but I do tend to be a penny pincher so there is that) since this Wet n Wild foundation is basically half the price. Which I still can’t get over…how does this amazing of a product cost $5!! I want to hug whoever created this thing, you deserve a medal. Okay enough blabbing…let’s get into the full review!
- Full coverage that lasts all day, especially if set with powder
- Coverage is also buildable
- Amazing price point!
- Good shade range
- I have found one bottle really does last a long time
- Blends nicely with others (aka concealer)
- Dries fairly quick, in a good way, which helps save me time in the morning
- Weird smell, at first I thought it smelt like paint. Now it doesn’t bother me, it really is only when you use the product for the first time
- Applicator, in some ways I actually like the applicator but since I am a forever team pump Ill put this in the con section but I could see some people like it and its definitely better than nothing!
- My biggest complaint by far is that its really hard to blend down my neck, maybe it dries too quickly but either way you really have to work at it
I seriously am questioning right now if I have covered everything with this foundation because I really want to do it justice. I have not been this head over heels for a foundation in almost a decade people!! I am shocked it’s even happening, I didn’t think I would love another foundation like this at the drugstore. Basically, y’all need this in your like ASAP…like seriously stop reading this and go get you some here, you won’t regret it!
Y’all this weekend I realized how many drugstore mascaras I currently have open and it gave me anxiety. Haha. I am a true believer in only having a couple mascaras open at a time since most of them dry out so quickly. I am usually very good about living by this rule but lately I have been trying so many new ones out that I have been way too impatient to wait to use up the old ones I had been using previously. Which then lead me to wanting to write this post since I have so many currently open…lets compare them all! Some of these I have been using for 8+ years and some others only a month.
I also want to quickly note that I am a huge advocate for drugstore mascara. Back in my youth (haha not that I am that old or anything) I would only buy high end products, it was something about me thinking that if they had a fancy brand name they obviously had to be better. LIES! After becoming more or less a makeup junkie and started trying out a wide variety of makeup I quickly realized that drugstore products are pretty much on the same level as anything high end. I find this is especially true with drugstore mascaras. I concede that drugstore brands haven’t figured out how to beat some higher end brands at certain products but mascaras they have down to a T.
This is a newer mascara to me that I bought about two months ago. I was intrigued that this mascara included a primer, I used to use a similar mascara back in middle school and loved it! When I first tested this product out I really liked it but quickly I began to hate how clumpy it made my lashes. I usually don’t mind a little clump but this is next level! Two months later now, I hardly ever reach for this and will not be repurchasing it.
- Definitely lengthens
- Love that the primer is black so that you don’t have to worry about covering up another color
- Since its a fiber mascara it definitely can create a more “falsie” look
- Clumps on clumps on clumps
- This might just be me but the tube seemed to dry up super quickly
- Slightly awkward to hold
Score: 6.5 out of 10 peaches
Another new product for me, but totally different opinion. I LOVE THIS STUFF! I have never really tried out Essence until earlier this year and now I am a changed woman. They have some amazing products and this is one of them. This mascara applies so amazingly and gives the perfect combination of length and volume. My only complaint about it is that it makes my lashes so long that they touch the top of my eyelids and definitely can transfer. Therefore I only wear this when I am wearing darker eye shadows (never would wear it with no eye shadow at all) and days where I don’t expect to cry (so weddings, funerals, etc. are out of the question)
- AMAZING price point
- Love the brush on it, its not too fluffy
- Lashes look seriously fake, so gorgeous!
- Can transfer onto your eyelids
- Maybe not as dramatic as some of the other mascaras we will be covering in this post
Score: 8 out of 10 peaches
This is such an oldie but still a goodie. I have been using this mascara in combination with the other green mascara we will cover later, since I was a senior in high school. They are amazing together so we should just note that right here at the top. However, after using some of these newer products this one has definitely been set to the side and kind of forgotten. I have a feeling in a couple years I will randomly repurchase this and feel like I am rediscovering a hidden gem! But for now, I prefer the other ones.
- Hello, volume! This will get you where you need to go
- Doesn’t budge all day
- Large brush for easy application
- Great price point and there is always a deal running so never buy it full price
- Can get sliiightly clumpy which is why I love pairing it with the other green mascara below
Score: 7.5 out of 10 peaches
Say hello to the most controversial mascara in the bunch, and many people will probably disagree with my opinions on it. I have never had so many people recommend any mascara to me as much as I got with this one, its seriously a cult favorite. I do totally see why, I really like it and have even been wearing it for the last three days straight. However, I do see some flaws in it. It took me probably two weeks of testing out various application methods to finally get it to work for me. I tend to layer my mascara a bunch (three layers typically) but with this product you can only use two layers max and you really have to work at each layer. You will not be able to just slap this on and run, I really have to work it through my lashes for them to look long and clumped. However, once you get them the way you want them, the blow every other mascara in this group out of the water
- Get this to work for you, and you will have the most beautiful lashes of your life…need I say more?
- Hard to work with
- The brush is a little awkward since it is slimmer in the middle and bigger on the ends
- A little more expensive than the other mascaras in the group
- Definitely not good for lower lashes
Score: 8.5 out of 10 peaches
Clump Crusher…you are my forever mascara soul mate. The day I don’t use this product will be the day the world freezes over. I have used this for close to ten years and my love for it is still going strong! Key thing to note is that I do not wear this alone, I always use it as the final layer after using other mascaras. I just run this through my lashes to get rid of any clumps and this is the part that really makes them look like true falsies. If you have never tried this you need to!
- Keeps true to name, it crushes any and all clumps like a champ
- Great price point
- Could use by itself if you are going for a no makeup, makeup look
- Works well with literally all other mascaras, great for putting on top of them
- Great for lower lashes!
- Doesn’t do the greatest job by itself for a full makeup look, best to pair with others
Score: 9 out of 10 peaches
So this mascara might actually be the oldest in the bunch. I haven’t used it in a while but a few months back I bought it kind of as a throwback. While I do like this mascara and its perfectly good, I am just not crazy about it. I do not reach for it consistently at all and its just very overlooked by the others in my collection. I believe this is my middle sister’s favorite mascara so it definitely can work for some people!
- Love the brush
- Definitely gives you volume, as you would expect by the name
- I honestly cant tell you why I don’t love this product, it just doesn’t give me the look that I want for my lashes…simple as that
Score: 5 out of 10 peaches
There you go, a review of all the mascaras currently in my collection! What is your favorite drugstore mascara?
Okay y’all, grab some tea or coffee cuddle up with a blanket and get ready because this is going to a long one! Since I haven’t done an Insta round up in almost two months we have a lot of ground to cover! I have edited it down to just my favorite posts and ones I have received the most questions about so I promise it’s worth it!
I also want to say thank you to all of you who are being so patient with my blogging game, I know it hasn’t been the most consistent lately. As you may have heard in my Insta Stories, work is crazy this time of year so I am having to put most of my focus there. Once we get through April work life will get a bit calmer so I promise it will get better! But again, thank you for still hanging around and supporting me. I love doing this and I love when you all tell me you love it too, it make everything worth it! Now let’s get into the post =)

I love, love, love testing out new makeup and I also love sharing my opinion…which is why I don’t know why its taken me so long to write a full product review. Who knows? Haha. Here goes my first one!
I recently signed up for Influenster and then I immediately fell in love with it. I highly encourage you to join, sign up here, you will not regret it! All they want you to do is review products on their site which will then increase your chances for getting selected to receive a box like this! I was lucky enough to be selected to receive a complimentary VoxBox that included Maybelline’s new Fit Me Dewy + Smooth Foundation as well as their Master Prime primer. After testing them both out for a few weeks I am ready to give me honest and unfiltered opinion on both products so let’s jump into it!
I was probably the wrong person to be selected to review this foundation because as the name states, it gives a dewy look. I hate dewy foundation, I’m a matte girl through and through. However, I went into it with an open mind and really did try to give it a go. While I will keep this and probably use it more in the summer when I don’t care as much about full coverage, I definitely will not be reaching for this on a daily basis by any means.
- Easy to blend
- Great medium coverage
- Dewy therefore good for dry skin
- Good shade range
- Great drugstore price point
- Strong floral smell (might not bother some people)
- Not full coverage (which is a no go for me)
- Does not last all day, at all
- Dewy therefore not good for oily skin
- You can definitely feel that you have foundation on
Moral of the story, I think some people my love this…but I am not one of them. The main reasons it’s not for me is the medium coverage and the fact it doesn’t last all day. Those are two requirements for me that I am not willing to budge on. However, like I said I could see me reaching for it on days when I want some coverage but don’t want to do a full look. I can 100% see me grabbing for this after a day at the pool and I want to look a little more put together before dinner but don’t have time to really put a lot of effort into my look. I know, very specific, but I actually wished for this type of product last summer when I was in that exact situation, and now this year I will have it!
I was so excited to test out a primer since I don’t really use any on a daily basis, I was interested to see if this would make a difference. My first reaction to this product was that I loved how hydrating it felt! I could honestly feel it moisturizing my skin. It dried well on my skin as well which was great. However, after lots of testing it out I came to the conclusion that I absolutely hate it under my foundation. I don’t know if some people will only wear primer with no foundation over it, but if you do then this product would be great. Under makeup however, it causes the foundation to never fully dry which gives a too dewy look and also causes the product to wipe off quickly/move around your face. It’s no bueno and I will not be using it any longer. Also note, I have dry skin which is why I love the hydrating aspect of it but if you have oily skin I can only imagine you will hate this even more than I did so you probably want to stay far away.
- Extremely hydrating
- Easy to apply
- When used alone, lays well on the face
- Doesn’t allow foundation to try on skin
- Takes down the coverage level for the foundation
- Foundation moves around easily with the primer under it
I hope you enjoyed my first product review! Let me know if you would like me to continue them. Also if you haven’t signed up for Influenster yet, what are you waiting for? They want to send you products just like it! Its amazing. Again, here is the link.
TGIF friends! Today I am finally sharing what makeup products I use and love daily! I get this question a lot so I am so excited to finally have a post dedicated to it. I tend to be very basic with my makeup on a daily basis and don’t often step out of the comfort zone I have created. Obviously since I work in an office I can’t be running around every day wearing purple lipstick and a deep smoky eye…I mean I could, but everyone would probably call me crazy! I tend to stick to the same base every day and then switch out eye shadows, blushes, and lipsticks to match whatever look I am going for that day. Therefore today, we are going over what products that 9 times out of 10 you will see me use. Many of these have been my go-to for years and it takes a lot for me to switch them out to something new, they have to be beyond amazing!
Well, after saying that I want to note…I wrote this post about a month ago before I got sick so funnily enough within that month I have actually found some new holy grail items! That is not to say that those new products have replaced these ones, because they haven’t completely. The new ones are great and I will be covering them soon on the blog so stay tuned!
Mac Mineralized Skinfinish Natural in Light Plus – I can’t tell you how many of these I have gone through over the years, too many too count! I use this every day to set my foundation and it makes it look so airbrushed. It keeps me matte throughout the day and definitely prolongs my foundation. However with that being said, here is a great drugstore dupe! Sometimes if I don’t have time to hit up the mall I will just pick this one up and it is just a good. I actually keep it at work for touch ups if needed.
Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer – This is a new find for me and let me tell you, it’s a game changer! I tried it for the first time and have never looked back. If you follow me on Instagram you have heard me mention how much I hate the smell, I really do. But for this product I will deal with it, it’s worth it! It blends beautifully and never gets that ugly muddy color. There is a reason why everyone and their mom loves this bronzer!
Revlon Colorstay Foundation in 180 Sand Beige– I have been using this foundation for almost ten years I believe, dang that sounds like a long time but I swear I found it in high school. Either way, I have only amazing things to say about it. It stays all day, is great coverage, and most times you can find it BOGO 50% off so it’s always a good deal. Every new foundation I try, this is the one I compare them against. If they cant outshine my Colorstay then I stop using them, its just not worth my time. I seriously see me using this foundation for the rest of my life!
Smashbox Spotlight Palette in Pearl – Before this palette I never really paid too much attention to highlighter but boy did this change things! I don’t think I have even gotten as many compliments as I have gotten when wearing these highlighters. They are the perfect amount of glow and lay beautifully on the skin. I also tend to use these as eye shadows and for highlighting the inner corner of my eyes, its looks great!
Tarte Shape Tape in Light Neutral – I was a little skeptical when first trying out this product because of the crazy hype around it, that always makes me a little cautious. But I quickly realized the hype is real and this stuff is gold! It’s on the thicker side but even so, it gives such good coverage and doesn’t crease. Also, my favorite this about this is that it lasts such a long time! I swear months and months! I can’t actually even remember the last time I bought a bottle.
Rimmel Scandal Eyes Flex Mascara – Hello, volume and length! I have used this for years and it has always done wonders for me. It makes my lashes look so great, especially combined with the next product!
Covergirl Clump Crusher Mascara – Say hello to my ride or die, forever and ever, mascara! I seriously don’t think I could live without this product. The way is unclumps your mascara and spreads out your lashes I would swear its magic. Put this on top of any mascara and it will bring it to the next level.
Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion – Again, I have used this product forever…probably around 10 years! I haven’t really even ventured out to other eye primers because this has worked so perfectly for me. I can notice a clear difference when I don’t use it, my eyeshadow fades and smudges throughout the day which is just pointless after you have spent so much time applying it! Best part of all? You only use the teeniest amount of it so the bottle lasts forever!!
Kat Von D Tattoo Liner – Okay so let’s all pretend what is pictured is the brush tip liner and not the ink felt tip liner. I went out on a limb and tried the felt tip last time I was at Sephora and…NOPE! I will not be repurchasing, its good but it just does not compare at all to the brush tip. The Tattoo Liner is the blackest, most long lasting liner I have found and the brush makes it extra easy to apply.
Elf Lock on Liner & Brow Cream – So, remember how I mentioned how I have found some products lately that have replaced the ones featured in this post? Well, this is one of them. While I do like this product, as far as I have found this is the lightest color they have and when I use it its wayyy too many shades darker than my natural brow color. It’s not a good look, even my dad made a comment about them looking weird. Haha! Therefore, I went back to my old stand by the Elf Eyebrow Kit. I have used this for years and it’s great. I love having both a powder and a pomade, it’s the perfect combo!
Okay y’all! There you go, my favorite products which I use to achieve my daily look! What are your favorite go-to products that you use daily? I love knowing these products for other people because if they are good enough for someone to use on a daily basis, they are probably really great! I hope you have an amazing Friday and an even greater weekend!
